Software Engineering Manager

Boeing Defense, Space, & Security (BDS) located in Oklahoma City, is seeking highly qualified software engineers and managers to develop leading edge solutions to directly support the warfighter.  Boeing Software is experiencing unprecedented growth across all of its supported platforms due to the award of multiple new contracts. 

Boeing OKC supports the following platforms; Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) for US, Saudi and NATO, Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEWC) for Australia, Turkey, United Kingdom and Korea, B-1 Strike Bomber, B-2 Stealth Bomber, B-52 Heavy Bomber, and the ALCM weapon.  These platforms continue to be updated to keep them relevant and supportive of emerging military systems.  Upgrades include state-of-the-art radar systems, hypersonic weapons systems, and cutting edge digital communication infrastructure.

As a first line Software Engineering Manager (level K) you will lead a team of between twelve and twenty software engineers with diverse backgrounds and skill levels assigned to one of the programs listed above.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements: 

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. 

Position Responsibilities:

• Manages Software Engineers performance
• Develops and executes project execution plans
• Implements policies and procedures and tactical goals
• Acquires people and resources for projects and processes
• Provides oversight of technical approaches
• Provides an environment for employee execution success
• Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.
• Capable of traveling up to 25% of the time.
• Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
• Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams.
• Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 3 years previous leadership experience in relevant complex systems integration and test domains.
• Experience in developing/maintaining team schedules, resource management, earned value management, process and performance metrics, risk management, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions and other project management skills is highly desired.
• Extensive experience in Software integration and test is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated/proven ability to work well with customer(s) & focus on customer satisfaction is required.
