Environmental Health Safety Specialist

This is a Contract position in Guymon, OK posted July 7, 2020.

JOB PURPOSE Monitor, coordinate and audit the processing plant’s safety activities primarily on the shift assigned to ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local laws/regulations.

Conduct one-on-one corrective actions, coordinate corrective actions with supervisors and managers, assist with training, coordinate safety meetings, conduct behavioral observations, safety tours, root cause analysis and participate in internal safety audits.

Administratively develops, maintains and modifies safety procedures job safety analyses JOB LOCATION: Guymon, Okla.

RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct daily behavioral observations, inspections of work areas, coordinate corrective actions, and help ensure corrective actions are appropriately handled in a timely manner to prevent injuries.

Communicate regularly with all levels of employees and communicate corrective actions on a preemptive time frame to help drive the importance of safety and protection of employees.

Delivers in-depth safety training to new and existing employees to ensure employees are properly trained to follow safety protocols to ensure compliance with corporate, federal and state rules and regulations.

Participate in internal safety audits and follow through to ensure corrective action is timely and effective.

Conducts root cause analyses and.

assists with investigations of workplace safety incidents providing guidance on discipline to operations and human resources.

Assist Safety and Worker’s Compensation Manager and other safety representatives to ensure all EH&S programs meet compliance with corporate and government guidelines; such as OSHA and EPA.

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree in a safety, environmental or related field of study preferred 3 years’ experience in the Environmental, Health and Safety field working as a safety professional (food industry preferred) Experience in a union setting with working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations along with a basic understanding of worker’s compensation is preferred Practical knowledge of ergonomics and ASP/CIH/RSM or RSO certifications in safety preferred Proven track record of developing and conducting training in a manufacturing environment Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred Seaboard Foods is an equal opportunity employer.
